Veterans Treatment Court
The Hamilton County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) is designed to supervise felony and misdemeanor veterans through a comprehensive judicially monitored program
of treatment and rehabilitation services. VTC is a collaborative partnership between the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office, Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office,
Tennessee Valley Veterans Administration (VA), Hamilton County Alternative Sentencing, Tennessee Department of Correction – Probation and Parole, the Hamilton County Court,
and other community partners.
This program structures treatment and intervention around the authority and personal involvement of the assigned judges.
VTC increases community safety by creating a non-adversarial courtroom atmosphere dedicated to breaking the cycle of substance abuse and criminal behavior,
addressing mental health issues, and reducing recidivism. Through this collaboration, an environment with clear rules is created,
and participants are accountable for their own compliance.
Our Mission
The mission of the Hamilton County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) is to identify and provide specific interventions for veterans involved in the criminal justice system, in such a way to promote public safety, reduce recidivism and costs, while improving the lives of said veterans, their families, and the community through treatment, support, and intensive court supervision.
