VETERANS TREATMENT COURT

This Court may be funded in part under a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse and/or grants from other funding agencies.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Hamilton County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) is to identify and provide specific interventions for veterans involved in the criminal justice system, in such a way to promote public safety, reduce recidivism and costs, while improving the lives of said veterans, their families, and the community through treatment, support, and intensive court supervision.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.

• Applicants must be a veteran OR active-duty military.

• Applicants must have been honorably discharged. The Court may consider other than honorably discharged applicants on a case-by-case basis and solely within the discretion of the Court.

• Applicants must reside within the 11th Judicial District of Hamilton County, TN.

• Applicants may not have violent criminal charges and/or convictions, no A or B felony criminal charges and/or convictions.

• Applicants cannot be on the sex offender registry, cannot be a gang member, and cannot have any child related charges and/or convictions. Any other charges are considered on a case-by-case basis by a representative from the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office.

• Applicants must plea to a charge that is eligible for probation.

• Applicants must voluntarily agree to enter the Veterans Treatment Court (VTC).

• Applicants must sign and execute all the necessary documents including medical release information.

• Applicants must have all criminal charges in other courts and/or other jurisdictions resolved. The Court may consider these cases on a case-by-case basis and solely within the discretion of the Court.
